I'M GOING HOME - Wherever that is

2018-10-01

With apologies to Tim Curry "I'm Going Home"

Well, wherever THAT is.

I was having dinner at my BnB in Sighisoura. The woman from Australia was talking to her 5 year old about the flags displayed around the place. Then she asked him if he remembered what country we were in.

WAIT I know this one. Just give me a minute. Hang on. Well, the kid got the answer first.

You know you are finally in vacation mode when you cannot remember what day it is. You know you have been moving too fast for too long when you cannot even remember what country you are in. I have been asked a few times why I don't learn any of the language of the countries I am visiting. Well, even if I could learn a few, I would have to remember where I am before I could use the right word. And even then, I am in Transylvania. This is Romania. Well, according to some. Others insist it is Hungarian and only speak that. There is also a large German population. Even in Romania I would not know what language to speak

The weather is turning cold. I could head to the Croatian coast, but I am running out of things that I want to do right now. You can only look at so many churches, and as much as I like riding, I would like to do something else for a while. Not instead of riding but in addition to.

So, I signed up for a SCUBA dive trip with my favorite dive shop, Divers Den Dive Shop in Manchester, NH. We are going to Honduras, right after Thanksgiving. Sort of a vacation from my vacation.

That means, I go home. Well, the closest thing I have to a home right now. I don't know yet if it will be right before Thanksgiving, or if I will go home earlier and wander around and visit. I do plan on being around New Hampshire / Connecticut for Christmas though.

I have decided that I need to plan a little farther out than the next day. I was originally going to go to the UK this fall, but that changed, so I decided to do it in the spring. That means storing my bike in Ireland is the best strategy. I was surprised to find out that a friend will also be traveling the UK / Ireland in the spring. Hopefully our schedules will coincide somewhat. I had been thinking New Zealand in February or so, but found out friends are traveling there in March for an all dirt ride tour. I am still working out how long I will be there. I will ride the dirt ride with them, then stay longer and ride paved roads myself. I may just buy a bike there on a lease buyback program one rental place has.

New Zealand planning is a bit complicated, as I don't know where I will be in January and February, but I know it won't be in frigid New Hampshire.

After the UK ? Well, that is anyone's guess. I am open to suggestions. Australia is a possibility. I just know I don't want to travel in Europe in August.
