Ah yes, new country, new culture. Have to try the local food with a local. What's the first place we go to? A place called Dallas of course. Burger, wings and beer.

Of course, this was after walking through the market and smelling the duck heads, pork faces, pork trotters (feet?), and smelly smelly fish heads. A place called Dallas sounded like a good idea.

The next day we went to the airport of course. Where else would you go when you enter a new country. We were already nearby and stopped in to see the Jewel, the largest indoor waterfall. Pretty cool.

After a day of sightseeing, we went to a local Hawker Centre. This is where there are a large assortment of food vendors. This is where the locals go, Singapore and expat alike. It was made famous in the movie Crazy Rich Asians ... OK, famous may be an overstatement, as I had never heard of the movie, but some of it was filmed here.

We had Stingray, and chicken wings etc. The oyster omelette was good, although the actual oysters in it were a bit too oystery for my taste.

We had to have the Carrot Cake. There are two varieties, we had the Black Carrot cake, not the one with Prawns....... Yes, not exactly the same thing we call carrot cake. It was very good.

Except for the oysters themselves, all the food was excellent, even the oyster omelette (avoiding the oysters)

Of course I had to visit at least one temple while there. The Buddha Tooth Relic Temple.

All joking aside, I had a great couple of days here. I was in Singapore for three nights due to flight timing constraints. This gave me a chance to visit with Anthony and his wife who are living here now. Anthony and I both started our careers at the same time and place, almost 40 years ago. I retired, he has not.... yet. He is also an engineer.
