RANT
I have tried Blogs in various forms many times through the years. I don’t like any of the programs I have used yet. They are good for quick updates from the road, but I really don’t do that to the public very often.
With my regular web-page with home made static pages I have complete control and can see them on my own computer even if there is no internet. I back them up easily and do not have to worry about something that is out of my control not working. I mostly use my web site for trip stories to share with others and to keep track of for myself.
STILL, I like to try this once in a while to see if I can make it work. Using a program that is designed and updated by a popular company allows me to forget about the design work myself, at least theoretically. Every time I have tried this, I find myself spending more time than ever tweaking, fixing and swearing than I do with my regular page.
I have yet to find one that works well on my phone. So…… I will try this out for the heck of it. I currently have one on my web site, and another on the wordpress.com site. Not sure if either one is any good.
I can see in the future using a wordpress blog if my web host raises prices, as I can get my own domain name on wordpress for about a third of the price. I would just have to accept that I need to use the blogging format.
